Windows 10 start menu not working, won’t open!

in Windows

There is no official fix for the start menu, it’s a known issue with Microsoft. Hopefully they will find a fix soon! Below are a few things you can try to repair your start menu if it is not working.

Try running the windows file system checker to find and repair any corrupt/missing windows files.

1 – Run the following command in windows powershell as an administrator. sfc /scannow

2 – after the scan completes if any issues were found run the following command to repair them DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Reinstall windows store apps

1 – Backup any saved data from these apps before running

2 – run the following command in windows powershell as an administrator. Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml“}

If your not on the latest version of windows 10 (Anniversary Edition) you can try running the upgrade to this latest version, as it often will repair the start menu in doing so. If your already running Anniversary edition and the start menu has broken and none of the above solutions worked, then you will likely have to resort to reinstalling windows to restore the start menu functionality.
